Rugby World Cup tickets: How fans can get a refund?

Rugby World Cup matches have been cancelled in Japan due to Typhoon Hagibis - but how can fans get a refund on their tickets?

Rugby World Cup organisers have cancelled two matches this weekend, with others to be reviewed.
England’s Pool C decider with France on Saturday has been called off, as has New Zealand’s clash with Italy. An assessment is due to be carried out ahead of Sunday’s fixtures, including hosts Japan’s game against Scotland. A statement from the Rugby World Cup confirmed that tickets for cancelled matches would be refunded.

It read: “The decision to cancel matches has not been taken lightly and has been made in the best interests of public, team, tournament personnel and volunteer safety, based on expert advice and detailed weather information. While we have extensively explored all options, public and team safety was our utmost priority as well as ensuring a consistent, fair and equitable outcome for all teams. All fans with tickets for a cancelled match will receive a full refund for the face value of their match tickets.”

How to get a refund?

Fans looking to get a refund on their cancelled match ticket can find full details on the Rugby World Cup’s official ticketing site. The method of refund will depend on how the ticket was paid for.

Tickets purchased via credit card require no action as the refund will be automatically processed to their card within November 2019. Those that paid for tickets at a convenience store in Japan will receive an email with instructions on how to claim their refund. All tickets (Category A, B, C, D, Wheelchair, Premium Seat & Sports Hospitality) will be refunded.
